Returns & Refunds Policy

At Joyce Hardware, we want you to be satisfied with your purchase. If you are not fully happy, our returns policy is outlined below.


1. Change of Mind / Unwanted Items

We are happy to accept returns for unwanted items, subject to the conditions below.

Online Purchases

  • Return Period: You have 14 days from the date of delivery to notify us of your intention to return an item, in line with your statutory cooling-off period.
  • Return Deadline: Items must be returned within 14 days of notifying us.
  • Condition of Items: Items must be unused, unopened, and in perfect, resalable condition, in their original packaging with all tags attached.
  • Refunds: Once received and inspected, refunds will be issued to your original payment method.
  • Delivery Charges: The original standard delivery charge is refundable in accordance with EU law. Any upgraded delivery services are non-refundable.
  • Return Costs: You are responsible for the cost of returning goods unless the item is faulty.
  • Refused Deliveries: Refunds will be issued for the item cost only. Delivery charges may be deducted.

In-Store Purchases

Please note: There is no statutory right to return goods purchased in-store unless they are faulty. Our policy below is offered in addition to your legal rights.

  • Return Period: Unopened items may be returned within 30 days of purchase.
  • Condition: Items must be in perfect, resalable condition, with original packaging and proof of purchase.

Refund Method:

  • Within 14 days: Refund to original payment method
  • 15–30 days: Refund issued as a store gift card

Please note: We reserve the right to issue a credit note instead of a refund where appropriate.


2. Exceptions & Non-Returnable Items

The following items cannot be returned unless faulty:

  • Gift cards
  • Special order, bespoke, or customised items
  • Items purchased through quotations
  • Clearance or reduced items
  • Large domestic and kitchen appliances
  • Mixed paint, paint testers, or opened paint
  • Mattresses, pillows, bedding, and toilet seats (for hygiene reasons)
  • Technology, haircare, Samsung, or Apple products with broken seals
  • Seasonal items after the relevant season

This does not affect your statutory rights.


3. Deposits & Quotations

  • Deposits:
    • Held for 90 days
    • Deposits on special orders are non-refundable
    • Cancelling a deposit on stocked items within 90 days will result in a store credit (not cash refund)
  • Quotations:
    • Valid for 7 days
    • Items purchased under quotation are non-refundable

4. Faulty Goods & Warranty

Your statutory rights under Irish consumer law are fully protected.

What to Do:

1. Contact Us
Email onlinesales@joyce.ie as soon as possible.
Do not return items without prior contact.

2. Inspection
We may request photos or arrange inspection.
Refunds, replacements, or repairs will only be processed after the item has been returned and inspected.

3. Resolution
Where a fault is confirmed, we will offer:

  • Repair
  • Replacement
  • Refund
    (as appropriate and in line with consumer law)

Important Guidelines

  • Inspection on Delivery:
    Report any visible damage within 72 hours of delivery or collection.
  • Installation:
    Items should be checked before installation. Claims may be rejected after installation unless a manufacturing fault is evident.
  • Electrical Items:
    Proof of purchase is required. Manufacturer registration may be required for warranty.
  • Supplier Processes:
    Some products are handled directly by manufacturers under their own service procedures.

Additional Conditions

  • Refund Processing:
    Refunds are issued only after goods are returned and inspected.

Refund Policy Note

Please note that once a refund has been processed, it may take 1–5 working days for the funds to appear back in your account. This timeframe is dependent on your bank and payment provider, and is not controlled by us. All refunds are issued promptly on our end, but the final processing time is determined by the transaction systems between your bank and Shopify.

  • Alternative Products:
    • If you choose a higher-priced replacement, the difference must be paid
    • If a replacement is unavailable, a refund will be issued
  • Replacements:
    We aim to resolve issues promptly, but delays may occur due to supplier or stock availability.
